Metal Toad CEO Brings ML Content Moderation Know-How to May 19 HITS Spring

At the May 19 Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS), at the Universal Hilton in Los Angeles, and online via MESA’s virtual platform, the MESAverse, Joaquin Lippincott, CEO of Metal Toad, will confront a growing problem.

Every individual and company is creating more and more content and distributing that content faster than ever, and this increase in content creation and distribution is making it harder for human moderators to ensure that the content generated meets your company’s guidelines and is appropriate for users. Lippincott’s session — “Content Moderation and Machine Learning – How AWS Algorithms Can Automate Solution to a Growing Problem” — will cover how Amazon Web Services’ machine learning algorithms can help automate content moderation to ensure that obscenities are detected at a fraction of the cost.

“Across all industries, huge amounts of data can be gathered or inferred by machine learning,” Lippincott said. “In the media and entertainment industry this can be as simple as metadata for tagging scenes (characters, actors and so on) and potentially as profound as predicting the success or failure of future TV and movie ventures.

“As we gather more data from streaming, expect ML’s impact to only increase with those organizations who fail to invest in it being left behind.”
